Lauren I think this is on a good path so far. You'll need to further play up the dark v. light relationship where certain areas meet one another (flower and face) to establish the proper spatial logic (as you do with the dark large tree branches and the thin wispy receding background. I'm not yet quite sold on the black rectangle effect. It does seem like something heavy needs to be over there but those forms seem so separate from the rest of the piece.
